Tour Overview

HILL COUNTRY • CULTURAL TRIANGLE • PASIKUDAH

An idyllic Sri Lanka Summer Honeymoon that combines time to relax on the Maldives-style sun-kissed beaches of Sri Lanka’s East Coast with wildlife encounters; leisurely strolls through verdant tea-laden hillsides; visits to ancient cities, and time to unwind at a charming colonial period manor house. Sri Lanka’s two distinct monsoons make the summer months perfect for a romantic getaway combining the lush tropical island’s rich cultural and natural heritage with its idyllic palm-fringed beaches that are best visited between May and September.

Begin your Sri Lanka Summer Honeymoon with three nights at a delightful colonial period planter’s bungalow, which is set among a working tea estate and offers the chance to visit rural villages and learn the art of making fine teas. Then, visit the Millennium Elephant Foundation, which is set at the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, where you can feed and bathe elephants before arriving in Sigiriya. Whilst at the Cultural Triangle, climb up to the summit of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress; take a relaxed bicycle ride through sleepy villages; witness the annual ‘Gathering’ of Elephants at Minneriya* and relax by the pool to catch some sun in the late afternoons.

Next, cycle amongst Polonnaruwa’s striking ancient ruins – one of Sri Lanka’s most evocative sights, before heading to Pasikudah on the East Coast – where you will have four lazy days to relax on the beach, swim in the Indian Ocean and watch magical sunsets. Conclude your Sri Lanka Summer Honeymoon tour with a short scenic flight across the island that will take you from Batticaloa on Sri Lanka’s East Coast to Colombo.

*To witness the annual elephant gathering at Minneriya, we recommend you travel between late July and September.
