Day 1 Arrive in Muscat

Land at Muscat International Airport under your own arrangements (if you would like a quote for international flights, please ask us). On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel overlooking the Gulf of Oman. After checking in, the remainder of the day will be at leisure.

Day 2 Muscat

Discover the Omani capital of Muscat, one of the most exciting and attractive cities in the Arabian Peninsula. The half-day privately guided tour starts with a photo stop at the Royal Opera House. Next, visit the exquisite Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, then continue to Muttrah where you will wander through the busy fish market, explore the atmospheric souq, and climb up to Muttrah fort. Your sightseeing concludes in Old Muscat where you will see the twin Portuguese forts of Jalali and Merani (outside), the Al Alam Palace (outside), and the Bait Al Zubair Museum. The afternoon will be at leisure.

Day 3 Wadi Fanja, Jabal Akhdar, arrive Nizwa

Start the day at Fanja’s traditional pottery souq and observe the ruins of the old mudbrick village perched atop a hill, then experience the thrill of an off-road drive along beautiful palm-lined Wadi Fanja before continuing your journey through the multi-coloured Hajar mountains to the Jabal Akhdar (Green Mountain). A serpentine road will take you up to the Saqy Plateau where you will discover the wonderful scenery, terraced fields, orchards and stone-built hanging villages on a guided walk (90 minutes – graded moderate). Return down the mountain late this afternoon and check in at your Nizwa hotel.

Day 4 Nizwa, Jabrin, arrive at Wahiba Sands

Visit Nizwa’s colourful souq and the magnificent 17th-century castle this morning, then drive to Jabrin and tour the fort, considered the finest in Oman. Drive on this afternoon to the magical Wahiba Sands where the dunes stretch as far as the eye can see. After check-in at your beautifully located desert camp, you’ll be taken up to one of the nearby dunes to watch the sunset over the desert – an unforgettable Arabian experience.

Day 5 Sur, Wadi Abraeen, arrive Muscat

Drive to the port of Sur, where wooden dhows have been built for a thousand years, a scene that conjures up images of the legendary 1001 Arabian Nights story of Sindbad the Sailor. Next, take the scenic coastal road north towards Muscat, breaking your journey to explore Wadi Abraeen, a stunning canyon with towering cliffs, swaying date palms and crystal-clear pools of water. On arrival in Muscat, check in at your five-star beachfront hotel.
