Tour Overview
MUSCAT • KHASAB • JABAL HARIM • DHOW CRUISE • JABAL AKHDAR • NIZWA • WAHIBA SANDS • WADI ABRAEEN
The Oman and Musandam tour is a private journey that will take you up to the ‘wild’ Omani exclave of Musandam province, where you’ll travel through the spectacular fjords (or khwars) in a traditional wooden dhow and ascend the sun-scorched barren heights of Jabal Harim.
Located on the Strait of Hormuz at the neck of the Arabian Gulf, little-visited Musandam is noted for its striking landscapes of deep inlets, craggy peaks, and bays hemmed in by sheer cliffs that have led it to be labelled the ‘Norway of Arabia’.
An hour’s flight to the north of Muscat, this dramatic province retains its rural charm and is a delightful backwater reminiscent of how much of Oman was until thirty years ago.
The Oman and Musandam tour spends two nights in Musandam’s tiny capital of Khasab before returning to Muscat by air and proceeding into the Sultanate’s breathtaking northern interior, where you’ll spend a night surrounded by the magical dunes of the Wahiba Sands, drive off-road into palm-lined wadis, and strike out on foot across the spectacular landscape of the Jabal Akhdar mountains.
It is necessary to make an effort to visit Musandam province, but we firmly believe that all who decide to explore and combine Oman and Musandam into one journey will be more than amply rewarded.
