Oman: Mountains and Beach is a luxurious and relaxed week-long trip combining a three-night mountain stay at the beautiful Alila Jabal Akhdar with four nights by the beach at the stunning Chedi Muscat.
Known in English as the ‘Green Mountain’, the Jabal Akhdar has long been regarded as a magical place – Oman’s Shangri-La – and stands high at over 2,000m above the heat of the Omani plains. Here, the gorgeous Alila Jabal Akhdar has the feel of a refined mountain lodge and overlooks a dramatic gorge. It’s the perfect place to relax in the sunshine, take in the mountain air, be pampered at the spa, and enjoy the dramatic views.
Daytime temperatures in the Jabal Akhdar hover between 10 and 25 degrees centigrade, making the refreshing climate ideal for gentle hikes and the cultivation of exotic luxuries that are virtually unknown elsewhere in Arabia, including pomegranates, apricots, walnuts, and roses.
After rejuvenating at the Alila Jabal Akhdar, and exploring some of the oases, medieval villages and fairytale forts that make up Oman’s striking interior, the second part of the holiday unfolds at The Chedi Muscat – an award-winning oasis of luxury set in manicured gardens – with its own private beach and extensive facilities that include the much loved ‘Long Pool’, tennis courts and a heavenly Spa.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Muscat, transfer to Jabal Akhdar
Land at Muscat International Airport under your own arrangements (if you would like a quote for international flights, please ask us). On arrival, you’ll be met by a Corinthian representative and transferred to your luxury hotel in Jabal Akhdar. After checking in at the Alila Jabal Akhdar, the remainder of the day will be at leisure.

Day 2 Jabal Akhdar
Today is at leisure at the Alila Jabal Akhdar Hotel to relax, enjoy the mountain views, cycle, or participate in the activities arranged by the hotel (supplements may apply).
Day 3 Jabal Akhdar
Meet your driver-guide and set off to discover the magnificent Jabal Akhdar. The first stop will be Diana Point, where the Princess of Wales enjoyed the stunning mountain views on a royal visit in 1986. Continue to the Wadi Al Masdara trailhead from where you’ll set off on a 5km hike through a rugged limestone gorge towards a stunning (seasonal) waterfall and natural crystal-clear pool of water. Next, proceed by 4WD across the Sayq Plateau to view the ancient hamlet of Al Sawghera which clings to the cliffs above a beautiful wadi. Then, return to the Alila Jabal Akhdar, where the remainder of the day will be at leisure.
Day 4 Nizwa, Al Hamra, Misfat, arrive Muscat
Rise early this morning to witness Nizwa’s vibrant Friday cattle auction – one of the highlights of any holiday in Oman. Next, explore Nizwa’s colourful souq and visit the magnificent 17th-century castle. Continue to Al Hamra, one of the best-preserved old towns in Oman. Drive on to the nearby authentic ‘living’ village of Misfat Al Abryeen where you’ll discover beautiful old houses, a maze of shaded passageways, rushing falaj’s and verdant terraces of date palms on a two-hour walking tour with a local villager. After your visit, return to Muscat and check in at your luxury beachfront hotel.
Day 5 Muscat
Today, discover the Omani capital of Muscat, one of the most interesting and attractive cities in the Arabian Peninsula. The half-day privately guided tour starts with a visit to the exquisite Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, then continue to Muttrah where you will wander through the busy fish market, explore the atmospheric souq, and climb up to Muttrah fort. Your sightseeing concludes in Old Muscat where you will see the twin Portuguese forts of Jalali and Merani (outside), the Al Alam Palace (outside), and the Bait Al Zubair Museum. The afternoon will be at leisure at The Chedi Muscat
Day 6 Muscat
Today will be at leisure to relax at The Chedi Muscat (no guiding or transportation services are included).
Day 7 Muscat
Today will be at leisure to relax at The Chedi Muscat (no guiding or transportation services are included).
Day 8 Farewell Oman
After check-out from The Chedi Muscat, a Corinthian Travel representative will transfer you to Muscat International Airport, where you will check in for your onward flight.

Oman: Mountains and Beach is a private tour that can start in Muscat on any day of the week throughout the year. Guests wishing to see the weekly Nizwa cattle market should arrive in Oman on a Tuesday.
