Our Oman family holiday will take you to a warm and hospitable Sultanate of Oman, a magical bucket-list destination associated with the 1001 Arabian Nights, Sindbad the Sailor, and the exotic scent of frankincense. Easily reached on non-stop flights from London and Manchester, this relaxed Oman Family holiday has been designed for families with children aged twelve and under and combines plenty of time to relax by the sea with a thrilling adventure into Oman’s stunning eastern Sharqiyah province.
The holiday starts and concludes with time by the beach in Muscat where your base is The Al Waha Hotel within the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort. This child-friendly haven has an array of amenities designed for younger guests and offers guaranteed interconnected rooms, a lazy river, a playground, extensive lagoon-style pools, a kids’ club, a wide choice of dining options and a beautiful sandy beach. In between lazy days on the Gulf of Oman, you’ll be taken on a three-day chauffeur-driven adventure where experiences will include camping amongst the seemingly endless dunes of the Wahiba Sands, swimming in beautiful river-fed canyons, a dolphin-watching cruise, and spotting turtles lay their eggs at Ras Al jinz (autumn and summer only).

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Muscat
Land at Muscat International Airport under your own arrangements (Please advise us if you would like a quotation for flights from the UK). On arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your chosen hotel.

Day 4 Wadi Abraeen, arrive Ras Al Hadd
Set off today along the scenic coastal road to Ras Al Hadd, the most easterly part of the Arabian Peninsula. Break your journey to explore Wadi Abraeen – a stunning canyon with towering cliffs, swaying date palms and crystal-clear pools of water. There will be an opportunity to swim in the Gulf of Oman this afternoon. After sunset, set out on a ranger-led excursion to try and spot green turtles on Ras Al Jinz beach.

Day 5 Dolphin watching, Wadi Bani Khalid, Wahiba Sands
Begin your day with a thrilling dolphin spotting cruise (a traditional Omani Dhow boat on a private basis for two hours). Dolphin shoals visit the clear blue water of the Sultanate of Oman in large numbers, with the waters offshore from Sur being a particularly good area to see these graceful mammals glide through the water. Upon disembarking, set off to visit Sur’s boat yards, where dhows are still made by hand. Next, drive into the eastern Hajar Mountains to the beautiful spring-fed canyon of Wadi Bani Khalid. After lunch (payable locally) and time for swimming in the canyon, drive inland into the spectacular Wahiba Sands and enjoy a short camel ride (30 minutes), before watching the sunset over the dunes.

Day 6 Meet Bedouin family, arrive in Muscat
Meet a local Bedouin family this morning and learn about their traditional lifestyle. This immersive experience allows you to learn about all aspects of Bedouin life. Listen to their stories and discover why some Bedouins have abandoned their nomadic traditions; learn how utensils are made from palm fronds and peek inside their traditional barasti home made from mud and palm leaves. Enjoy traditional Omani coffee and dates before bidding farewell. Then, drive through the strongly fortified Sumail Gap to Muscat. After check-in, the remainder of the day will be spent at leisure relaxing and swimming.
