Tour Overview
MUSCAT • NIZWA • JABAL AKHDAR • SALALAH • SUMHURAM • WADI DAWKAH • EMPTY QUARTER • JABAL QAMAR • MUGSAYL
This Oman and the Empty Quarter tour is an epic adventure combining northern and southern Oman that reveals the Sultanate’s most spectacular scenery and follows in the footsteps of the great Arabian desert explorers. On this journey, you’ll swim from deserted powder sand beaches, gaze on luxuriant oases and sun-burnt mountain peaks, cross seemingly endless rust-coloured dunes, ponder over long vanished frankincense ports, and be mesmerised by the brightness of the billions of stars in the night sky!
The highlight of this Oman and The Empty Quarter tour is travelling across the sands of the Rub Al Khali (Empty Quarter) – one of the greatest sandy deserts on Earth – where you will stay in the relative comfort of the area’s only fixed camp and experience a landscape of almost unspeakable beauty. The Empty Quarter remains terra incognita to all but a select few and is bathed in an audible silence. Like the great waves cast up by an ocean storm, the dunes of the Empty Quarter are always changing, never the same, and form some of the wildest and most magical of panoramas on this planet.
Starting and concluding your Oman and The Empty Quarter tour are nights spent in style by the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
