The Oberoi Philae Nile cruise is the epitome of luxury on the Nile and our preferred choice if you want to discover Upper Egypt in unparalleled style and comfort. While aboard the Oberoi Philae Nile cruise, you will be one of a select pampered few as accommodation is in only 22 spacious cabins and suites, each of which benefits from butler service. Mooring is always at a private dock, and with departure dates a day later than most cruises, you can experience a leisurely cruise on an emptier Nile. The sites of Egypt are equal to the Philae in their magnificence; this 10-day/9-night journey starts in Cairo. You will see the stunning pyramids of Giza, gaze at the enigmatic sphinx and marvel at the golden treasures held in the Egyptian Museum.
Fly south to Luxor and stay at the historic Winter Palace Hotel for a night before embarking on the Oberoi Philae – your home for the next four nights – and cruising through 5,000 years of Egyptian history. The Oberoi Philae Nile cruise holiday concludes in Aswan with two nights to relax amongst glorious surroundings at the historic Old Cataract Hotel, where you can enjoy arguably the finest Nile views in Egypt.
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Cairo
Land at Cairo International Airport under your own arrangements (if you would like a quote for international flights, please ask us). Enjoy a VIP meet and greet service on arrival, followed by a private transfer to your downtown hotel overlooking the River Nile.

Day 2 Pyramids Cairo
Meet your private Egyptologist guide this morning for a tour of the pyramid complex at Giza. Here, you will also visit the Museum of the Solar Boat and see the enigmatic Sphinx – said to portray the image of the 4th dynasty Pharaoh Kafre. After lunch (payable locally), explore the Egyptian Museum with its incredible collection of antiquities, including the golden treasure of Tutankhamun and the elaborately wrapped mummified Pharaohs in the Royal Mummy Room.
Day 3 Fly to Luxor
Fly south to Luxor. Meet on arrival and private transfer to the historic Winter Palace Hotel – a building infused with the spirit of yesteryear that was once a royal guesthouse. The afternoon will be at leisure to enjoy the beautiful gardens and take a dip in the pool. Later, you can enjoy a drink in the club-style Victorian Lounge before having dinner at the elegant 1886 Restaurant.

Day 4 Board Philae Nile Cruise. Luxor Sightseeing
Board your luxury Nile cruise. After lunch aboard, begin your Luxor sightseeing with a visit to the magnificent temples of Amon-Ra at Karnak with its enormous hypostyle hall containing 137 columns, then continue to nearby Luxor Temple with its fine avenue of Sphinxes. A cocktail reception will be held aboard the Oberoi Philae this evening. Overnight: Luxor.

Day 5 Visit Luxor, Sail To Esna
Continue your Luxor sightseeing with a visit to the beautifully painted tombs in the Valley of the Kings (including the Tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun), the rock-cut temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the tombs of the artists who created the royal tombs at Deir el-Medina. After a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, return to the Oberoi Philae. Lunch is served onboard as you cruise slowly south to Esna. Overnight: Esna.
Day 6 Sail to Edfu and Kom Ombo
Sail to Edfu and tour the temple of the falcon-headed god Horus with your Egyptologist. This is one of the most complete buildings surviving from the age of the Pharaohs. Following your tour, the Oberoi Philae will cruise down the Nile to Kom Ombo. On arrival, walk across the temples dedicated to Horus the Elder and the crocodile god Sobek. Overnight: Kom Ombo.
Day 7 Sail to Aswan
Breakfast will be served as you sail south to scenic Aswan. On arrival, join your boat’s Egyptologist on an excursion to see the Aswan High Dam (completed in 1970), then take a launch across a picturesque lake to see the beautiful Temple of Isis on Philae Island. Return to the Oberoi Philae for lunch and time at leisure. Later this afternoon, there will be an excursion by motorboat to see the award-winning Nubian Museum.
Day 8 Aswan (Optional Abu Simbel visit)
Disembark from the Philae for the last time this morning and check in at the historic Old Cataract Hotel, where the Nile views are arguably the best in Egypt. The remainder of the day will be at leisure. The Cataract’s terrace is THE place to enjoy tea overlooking the Nile. Alternatively, this morning, there will be an optional (supplement applies) visit by air to see the stunning rock-cut Temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel.

Day 9 Aswan
Today will be at leisure in Aswan.
Day 10 Farewell To Egypt

Sightseeing from the cruise is on a group basis and is accompanied by the ship’s resident Egyptologist. Boarding and disembarking the cruise requires negotiating small gangways, making the cruise potentially unsuitable for passengers who require assistance or have difficulties with mobility.
