And as the tour unfolds, enjoy a diverse range of enriching experiences: re-live the gracious lifestyle of colonial-era tea planters at Ceylon Tea Trails, where many of the Raj-era traditions are still in vogue. Set off on invigorating hikes through quaint doll’s house villages, go for an afternoon stroll along the ramparts of the historic Galle Fort complex looking for reminders of the Dutch and British colonial years and observe daily life whilst exploring the evocative backstreets of Galle Fort. Along the way, your Luxury Sri Lanka Holiday includes three full days to relax by the Indian Ocean at the small fishing village of Tangalle, renowned for its expansive, golden sandy beaches.
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Colombo
Land at Colombo International Airport under your own arrangements (if you would like a quote for international flights, please ask us). On arrival, you will enjoy a VIP meet and greet service, then transfer to your hotel in the heart of Colombo. Later this afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour through Colombo’s historic Fort District.

Day 2 Arrive Hill Country
A scenic drive passing through thriving Sri Lankan towns and sleepy villages will bring you to Sri Lanka’s scenic Hill Country. On arrival, check in to your luxurious Relais & Châteaux listed Ceylon Tea Trails planter’s bungalow. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the striking scenery.

Day 3 Scenic walk
The spectacular natural setting of your restored planter’s bungalow lends itself to scenic walking trails. Accompanied by your guide, enjoy an inspiring trek through the surrounding forests with breathtaking views of an endless valley punctuated with tea plantations and dollhouse villages. Many guests at Ceylon Tea Trails walk from one bungalow to another for a meal or cup of tea.
Day 4 Tea Experience
At Ceylon Tea Trails, many of the Raj-era traditions are still in vogue. Today, you’ll be woken at Ceylon Tea Trails with a tray of cookies and ‘bed tea’. After a morning walk, enjoy a full English breakfast or a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Lunches and dinners are more formal affairs as Ceylon Tea Trails follows several time-honoured traditions. In the afternoon, accompanied by your resident planter, learn the art of making fine teas. Then, on your return to your bungalow, enjoy traditional high-tea in the tropical garden, and in the evening, join other resident guests in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks, including single malts and G&Ts.
Day 5 Arrive Tangalle
Drive through the foothills of the southern highlands navigating innumerable hairpin bends and passing stunning panoramas to Tangalle’s secluded beaches in Sri Lanka’s deep south. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Go for a swim in the ocean or pamper yourself with an invigorating spa treatment.
Day 7 Tangalle
Today is at leisure to relax by the beach. Alternatively, should you wish to stir from your luxurious surroundings, spend the morning climbing up to the summit of the ancient Mulgirigala rock temple.
Day 8 Arrive in Galle
A morning’s drive along the scenic south coast will bring you to the historic fortified town of Galle. On arrival, check in at the exclusive Amanagalla, which is set within the historic Galle Fort complex. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 9 Galle Fort
Set off this morning on a guided walking tour through the fortified town will reveal a maze of narrow streets complete with churches and a melange of architectural styles dating back through the centuries. Sightseeing will include a visit to Galle’s lighthouse and warehouses and an opportunity to sample Sri Lankan street food at a local café. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 10 Farewell to Sri Lanka
Transfer to Colombo International Airport and check in for your onward flight.

The best time to visit central and southern Sri Lanka is between December and April. High Season falls in February, with a peak season applying over New Year and Easter. The low Season is typically from May to June.
