Tour Overview
TUNIS • CARTHAGE • DOUGGA • SIDI BOU SAID • TOZEUR • CHOTT EL JERID • ONG JEMEL
Our Luxury Tunisia holiday is a relaxed twin-centre journey that combines two of North Africa’s most beguiling destinations: Tunis’s vibrant capital and the delightful oasis town of Tozeur in southern Tunisia. In both destinations, luxury accommodation is of the highest standard. In Tunis, choose between the palatial Four Seasons and the elegant Residence Tunis, both located a short distance from Carthage and the attractive white-washed town of Sidi Bou Said. In Tozeur, the newly appointed Anantara Resort has brought a highly anticipated level of luxury to this desert town. It is unquestionably the best property not only in Tozeur but all of southern Tunisia.
Arriving in Tunis, two of the country’s eight UNESCO World Heritage sites, the atmospheric Medina of Tunis and the ancient city of Carthage, are instantly on the agenda, while a third UNESCO site, the magnificent ruins at Dougga, is a comfortable distance inland from the Tunisian capital. Both Carthage and Dougga will be brought to life by your private English-speaking guide, as will your visit to the world-renowned Bardo museum. Connected via a short internal flight, the oasis of Tozeur is an excellent base for discovering the chotts (salt pans), desert landscapes and other mesmerising scenery that is prominent throughout this part of Tunisia.
Combining Tunisia’s largest metropolis with the beguiling Sahara desert and oases, this Luxury Tunisia Holiday is a wonderfully contrasting bespoke itinerary featuring the country’s best hotels and resorts.

Next, move on to the thronging souqs and grand monuments inside Tunis’s walled medina for an immersion into North Africa. After lunch in a beautiful old mansion, visit the ruins of ancient Carthage.
Day 3 Dougga and Sidi Bou Said
Drive inland to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dougga, and explore what are some of the finest Roman ruins in North Africa. This afternoon, visit Sidi Bou Said, perched high on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and one of the most picturesque villages in Tunisia.

Day 5 Tozeur and Chott el Djerid
Tozeur was once one of the great desert gateways to Sub-Saharan Africa and retains a unique charm. Start today with an interesting walk through the narrow alleyways of Tozeur’s old Ouled Hadef quarter. Next, explore the town’s expansive oasis, which is best seen on a relaxing horse and cart ride. Later in the afternoon, discover the vast expanse of the Chott el Djerid salt pans, the largest of its kind in the Sahara Desert.
Day 6 Nefta and Ong Jemel
In the morning, discover nearby Nefta, another oasis town that is situated on the western edge of the Chott el Djerid and an important centre for Sufism in Tunisia. At the heart of the town is the Corbeille (basket), a fertile and sunken palm oasis that is best appreciated from the main road above it. Later, journey north across the desert sands to watch the sunset over the dunes. En route, pass Ong Jemel (an enormous rock resembling a camel), fossilised dunes, and a virtually intact film set used in two Star Wars movies.
Day 7 Fly to Tunis
The day is at leisure until your afternoon/evening flight back to Tunis. This morning, there is the opportunity to take a cooking class (supplement applies). Learn how to make traditional Tunisian and Berber dishes before sitting down to enjoy the end results over lunch. On arrival back in Tunis, you will be met by a Corinthian Travel representative and transferred to your hotel.
