Overflowing with unforgettable experiences, highlights of a tour to Egypt and Jordan include the Great Pyramid of Giza, taking one of the most elite cruises on the Nile through the timeless scenery of Upper Egypt, exploring the ‘rose-red’ city of ancient Petra by candlelight; following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia in the red desert of Wadi Rum; and floating cork-like on the saline waters of the Dead Sea!

Day 1 Arrive in Amman, Jordan

Land at Amman International Airport under your own arrangements (if you would like a quote for international flights, please ask us). On arrival, you will be met by a Corinthian Travel representative, assisted in obtaining your visa, and then transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 Jerash, arrive in Petra

Start the day by visiting the stunning ruins at Jerash – one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East, then have a Lebanese-style lunch before taking the Desert Highway to Petra.

Day 3 Petra by Night

Discover the stunning ruins of the ‘rose-red’ city of Petra on a privately guided tour lasting between two and three hours. A buffet lunch will be provided at the site. The afternoon is free to continue exploring Petra independently. This evening, experience the unforgettable spectacle of Petra by Candlelight (operates Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday only).

Day 4 Wadi Rum, arrive at the Dead Sea

This morning, explore the magnificent lunar-like desert valley of Wadi Rum in a 4WD vehicle. This is a vast, timeless and starkly beautiful place where uniquely shaped mountains rise out of the rose-red desert. In David Lean’s epic film ’Lawrence of Arabia’, Wadi Rum was the location for many shots. Following your visit, you will be transferred by road to the Dead Sea – the lowest point on Earth above sea level.

Day 5 Dead Sea, Fly to Cairo, Egypt

Relax by the Dead Sea this morning, then fly to Cairo. On arrival, a Corinthian Travel representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 6 Pyramids, Egyptian Museum

Tour the pyramid complex at Giza with your private Egyptologist guide this morning and see the enigmatic Sphinx, which is said to portray the image of the 4th dynasty Pharaoh Kafre. In the afternoon, visit the Egyptian Museum with its incredible collection of antiquities, including the golden treasure of Tutankhamun and the elaborately wrapped mummified Pharaohs in the Royal Mummy Room.

Day 7 Fly to Luxor, board Nile Cruise

Fly with Egyptair to the ancient city of Luxor and board your choice of Nile cruise ship – both are considered amongst the most elite on the Nile. After lunch on board, explore the stunning temple complex of Amon-Ra at Karnak and the imposing Temple of Luxor. Overnight: Luxor.

Day 8 Luxor, sail To Edfu

Continue your Luxor sightseeing with a visit to the beautifully painted tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens, the rock-cut temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch will be served onboard the boat as you cruise slowly south to Edfu. Overnight: Edfu.

Day 9 Edfu Temple, sail to Aswan via Kom Ombo

Visit the temple of the falcon-headed god Horus at Edfu with your Egyptologist. This is one of the most complete buildings surviving from the age of the Pharaohs. Then, sail to Kom Ombo to see the temples dedicated to Horus the Elder and the crocodile god Sobek. Afternoon tea will be served as you continue sailing south to Aswan. This evening a Galabiya party will be held on board your Nile cruise. Overnight: Aswan.

Day 10 Aswan

Discover Aswan this morning, one of the most beautiful spots in Egypt. Here the sands of the Sahara tumble directly into the Nile from high dunes, and the sleek hulls of sailing boats ply the tranquil waters between emerald islands and pink granite boulders. Sightseeing will include the Aswan High Dam (completed in 1971), the Quarries of the Pharaohs, and the beautiful Temple of Isis on Philae Island which was rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Relax on board your floating hotel this afternoon. Overnight: Aswan.

Day 11 Aswan, fly To Cairo

Disembark from your Nile cruise for the last time this morning and enjoy a private visit to the Nubian Museum, followed by tea (payable locally) on the terrace of the iconic Old Cataract Hotel. Alternatively, visit Abu Simbel by air (supplement applies). Fly to Cairo this afternoon. A private transfer will then take you to your hotel, which is conveniently located near the airport.

Egypt and Jordan Holiday is a private tour that can operate throughout the year based on arrival in Amman on a Tuesday.

Petra by Night runs every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Sightseeing from the cruise is on a shared basis and is accompanied by the ship’s resident Egyptologist. Boarding and disembarking the cruise requires negotiating small gangways, making the cruise potentially unsuitable for passengers who require assistance or have difficulties with mobility.
