In contrast, the essence and traditions of old Arabia are still very close to the surface in modern Oman. The Sultanate is renowned for its pristine natural beauty, opportunities for soft adventure, and historic sites. Experiences such as a dhow cruise through the dramatic ‘fjords’ of Musandam, walking through the stunning Jabal Akhdar mountains, visiting the Arabian Nights-style fort at Nizwa, and spending a night under canvas in the magical Wahiba Sands are seemingly a world away from the luxury, bright lights, and dramatic modern architecture of Dubai.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Dubai, UAE
Land at Dubai International Airport under your own arrangements (Please advise us if you would like a quotation for flights from the UK). On arrival, you will enjoy a VIP meet and greet service before being transferred to your Dubai hotel.

Day 2 Old Dubai
Discover Dubai’s past as a small sea trading and pearling centre on this morning’s private tour. Visit the atmospheric gold and spice souqs, ride an Abra water taxi on Dubai Creek, enjoy the traditional Arabian architecture of Bastakiya, and visit the historic Al Fahidi fort. The afternoon will be at leisure.
Day 3 Dubai
Gleaming 21st-century Dubai awaits you on this morning’s tour, which focuses on showcasing the city’s visionary and world-renowned modern landmarks, including the iconic Palm Jumeirah development, ‘seven- star’ Burj Al Arab hotel, and the 828-tall Burj Khalifa. The afternoon will be at leisure.
Day 4 Arrive in Khasab (Oman), Mountain Safari
Drive to Khasab in Oman’s wild Musandam province with its deep inlets, craggy peaks, and scenic bays hemmed in by sheer cliffs. This afternoon embark on a panoramic 4WD mountain safari into Musandam’s stark and barren interior.

Day 5 Musandam Fjords Dhow Cruise
Take a relaxing dhow cruise through Musandam’s spectacular fjords today with opportunities to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters, as well as the possibility of spotting dolphins!
Day 6 Fly to Muscat, Arrive Jabal Akhdar
Fly from Khasab to Muscat, then drive up into the Jabal Akhdar Mountains where you will check in at your magnificently-located, luxurious mountain hotel.

Day 7 Jabal Akhdar
Start the day with a guided walk to discover the wonderful scenery, terraced fields, orchards and stone-built hanging villages of the Jabal Akhdar. The ‘Four Villages’ trail from Al Aqur to Sayq (2 hours – graded moderate) will take you through some of Oman’s most picturesque countryside. Next, visit the beauty spot of Wadi Bani Habib then return to your hotel where the remainder of the day will be at leisure.
Day 8 Nizwa, Arrive Wahiba Sands
Visit Nizwa, the cultural capital of interior Oman, where you will explore the colourful souq and visit the town’s magnificent 17th-century castle, then transfer to the Wahiba Sands – an enormous sand sea the size of Wales. This evening witness the magnificent spectacle of the sun setting over the golden dunes.

Day 9 Sur, Wadi Tiwi, Arrive Muscat
See the dhow building yards in Sur, then set off along the scenic coastal road to Muscat Airport. Stop en route to explore the idyllic palm-lined Wadi Tiwi.

Day 10 Muscat
Discover the Omani capital of Muscat, one of the most interesting and attractive cities in the Arabian Peninsula. The tour will visit the exquisite Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Beit Al Falaj historical museum housed in a whitewashed fort, and Muttrah’s atmospheric souq. Following lunch (payable locally), explore old Muscat, where you will see the twin Portuguese forts of Jalali and Merani (outside), the Al Alam Palace (outside), and visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum.
Day 11 Muscat
Today will be at leisure in Muscat.
Day 12 Farewell to Oman
Transfer to Muscat International Airport and check in for your onward flight.
