A unique take on contemporary Egypt that fuses old and new

The architects of the Kemet Dahabiya have successfully created a unique take on contemporary Egypt in their innovative design by skillfully combining old and new and marrying the look and feel of a traditional Nile Sailing boat with a stylish contemporary interior décor. This deluxe dahabiya uses repurposed materials throughout and is available exclusively for private charters on the Nile.

Named after the ancient Egyptian word for their country (‘Kemet’ meaning ‘black soil’), the Kemet Dahabiya’s guest accommodation has been inspired by the River Nile itself: the water of the Nile: Aur, the soil of the Nile: Doum, and the trade of the Nile: Lazuli. The three Doum suites (27 square metres) consist of the main room with its Queen bed and the attached entrance foyer with a daybed that can be used for a 3rd guest. Both Aur suites are smaller in size (25 square metres) and have a Queen bed, but they have the added advantage of a private balcony. The three Lauzuli suites all have two separate beds (22 square metres).

While cruising serenely between Luxor and Aswan (and vice versa) aboard the Kemet Dahabiya, you will visit unforgettable ancient temples that include Edfu and Kom Ombo as well as engage in immersive experiences such as a donkey ride through the cane fields, a morning hike, watching lively performances by local musicians. Between visits, most time is spent on the shaded Upper Deck, where you can contemplate the exotic lush Nile landscapes while relaxing on comfy sofas or rocking gently in the suspended swing. When it comes to mealtimes, your resident chef is on hand to dish up a mouth-watering selection of International and Egyptian delicacies. Guests should be aware that this non-motorised dahabiya (there is a generator aboard) is pulled by a tugboat when winds are too light to cruise under sail.
