Award-winning heritage property that has played host to royalty
Taj Nadesar Palace is the finest hotel in the holy city of Varanasi and is set in 40 acres of lush landscaped gardens filled with marigolds and mango trees. Built in the late 18th century, this two-storey palace was originally a royal guesthouse and, in the past, has played host to King George V and Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth as well as Lord and Lady Mountbatten and a host of other statesmen and celebrities.
Spectacularly restored and converted into a hotel, the Taj Nadesar Palace offers accommodation in ten oversized rooms and suites that have all been elegantly decorated using original pieces of furniture as well as works of art from the Maharaja’s private collection and feature luxurious bathrooms complete with claw-foot tub.
From healthy breakfasts on the sun-kissed veranda to poolside barbeques – dining is a delightful experience. Leisure facilities at this elegant property include an outdoor swimming pool, a four-hole golf course, and a spa that offers signature Indian wellness treatments and yoga. Within the grounds of the hotel, there is also a temple dedicated to the local deity where daily rituals are performed. Activities on offer at Taj Nadesar Palace include a tour of the city in the Maharaja’s horse-drawn carriage and a guided walk of the palace grounds with a botanist.
