Located in the heart of Thanjavur, Svatma is a stylish character boutique property with interiors heavily influenced by ancient Tamil culture and art.

The hotel comprises a skilfully restored, century-old family home and a modern wing designed to complement the heritage building. Each of Svatma’s 38 spacious, elegantly furnished rooms and suites is an inspiring fusion of traditional style solid wood furnishings and polished wooden floorboards with modern contemporary comforts. While seven rooms and suites with a private veranda are in the main heritage building, the others are in the new wing.

Dining experiences include ‘Nila Choru’ at the rooftop restaurant – a recreation of traditional family dinners under the stars on moonlit nights and authentic home-style vegetarian Tamil cuisine based on the owner’s family recipes at the main restaurant. Every afternoon, guests are served delightful finger food on the veranda accompanied by spicy tea or ‘filter coffee’ as practised in every Tamil home.

Leisure facilities at Svatma include an outdoor pool, a well-equipped gymnasium, a yoga pavilion and a spa offering traditional Ayurvedic massages. It should be noted that Svatma only serves vegetarian cuisine.
