Affordable converted heritage hotel

Shahpura House is a delightful townhouse in a leafy residential area in downtown Jaipur. Originally the private residence of the Shekhawat Clan of Rajputs, this is an affordable, heritage-style hotel that is owned and run by the descendants of an aristocratic family.

With its stucco arches, vibrant frescoes typical of the Shekawati region and striking mirror work in the central hall that makes the ceiling shimmer like gold, this hotel weaves traditional Rajput and Mughal architecture.

Accommodation is in 68 simple yet tastefully furnished rooms decorated with antique reproductions, stained glass photos and paintings depicting typical Rajasthani life. Whilst all rooms overlook the mature garden, only some feature a small balcony.

At the Shahpura House Jaipur, delicious food from around the world is served in the main restaurant, and the rooftop speciality restaurant serves authentic Rajasthani cuisine at dinner. Other facilities include a bar serving Indian wines and chilled beers, an outdoor pool and a spa offering a range of traditional Ayurvedic treatments.
