Cosy property near Gangtey Monastery
In a picturesque valley setting overlooking Gangtey Monastery, RKPO Gangtey Lodge in the Phobjikha Valley provides a cosy, homely atmosphere from which to enjoy the surrounding countryside and sights.
Accessed by a long farm road, the remote RKPO Gangtey Lodge has just seven deluxe rooms and two suites. The cosy rooms are decorated with traditional flourishes, and most have excellent views of the Gangtey Valley below. Wi-Fi is available at the lodge (although the signal is not always reliable), but in a nod to authenticity, the rooms do not have televisions.
All rooms have ensuite bathrooms and benefit from fine valley views. Guests should be aware that there isn’t any central heating at RKPO Gangtey, and being located in a remote valley, the electricity supply can be irregular. Warming each one of the rooms is a traditional Bukhari wood-burning stove. Hot water bottles are provided, but even so, it can become decidedly chilly at night during the winter months.
The lodge has hot stone bath facilities, and traditional massages can also be arranged.
RKPO Gangtey Lodge is a short distance from the Black Necked Crane Information Centre.
