Magical royal retreat in the heart of Rajasthan

Set within the walls of the magnificent 5th century Ahhichatragarh Fort (Fort of the Hooded Cobra), the Ranvas (Abode of Queens) was once the pleasure palace of the Maharajas of Jodhpur. Ranvas has been painstakingly restored over 20 years and features water fountains, vivid frescoes and elegantly designed gardens that now form the magnificent stage on which visitors can experience regal living from within the walls of an ancient fort.

Ranvas accommodates 33 rooms and suites divided between ten havelis (mansions). Rooms differ in size and are individually decorated using rare artefacts from the surrounding region. Each haveli has two or three rooms, with a private courtyard and an outside living area exuding the charm and style of the princely state from where the Ranis hailed.

Facilities at Ranvas include two restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool and a spa. Activities on offer include guided sunset strolls around the ramparts of the massive Ahhichatragarh Fort and a tour of Nagaur, a town just outside the fort’s walls. Ranvas is the chosen venue for the annual World Sufi Spirit Festival. At this time, the fortress comes alive with mysticism, colour and an irresistible atmosphere as musicians and dancers from around the world put on a spell-binding performance.
