Former royal palace on a coffee plantation

Located at 1,100 metres, on the forested hills of the Western Ghats, Rajakkad Estate is a former royal palace set amongst 50 acres of coffee plantation. Once owned by the Travancore royal family, this 18th-century villa was dismantled from its original location on the Kerala backwaters and painstakingly reassembled amongst the magnificent scenery of the Rajakkad Estate. The seven guestrooms surround the central courtyard and open onto the garden. Each one is elegantly simple in design and features traditional black oxide floors.

Rajakkad Estate serves mainly South Indian cuisine prepared using fresh local produce and a small selection of Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Meals are served in the dining room or on the terrace. The evening fixed menu meal is usually a communal affair, but with advance notice, private dining can also be arranged. It should be noted that only vegetarian food is available at Rajakkad. Spend your day on the many hammocks with a book from the in-house library, which has an extensive collection of books and enjoy glorious views of the magnificent garden.

Rajakkad Estate is an excellent base for guided walking trails through the surrounding forests, visits to a working coffee plantation, and relaxing and enjoying the views.
