Set amongst ten acres of woods and meadows, Palmstone Retreat enjoys a tranquil setting overlooking a seasonal stream that flows through the property and a small cascading waterfall.

This small, contemporary-style hideaway is undoubtedly the best hotel in and around Kitulgala and is an excellent base for white-water rafting on the Kelani River as well as hiking to the pre-historic Belilena Caves. The hotel comprises a main building with an open-plan lobby that leads you onto the main dining room and the pool and six spacious bedrooms spread among three chalets tucked away amongst manicured gardens. The tastefully furnished rooms combine modern minimalist style with traditional elements and are designed to offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness. While some rooms have a private Jacuzzi, others feature a heated plunge pool.

The main dining room serves both enticing Sri Lankan as well as Continental cuisine, and guests also have the choice to dine privately either near the waterfall or in the privacy of their rooms. Leisure facilities at Palmstone Retreat include an outdoor swimming pool and an entertainment room that is equipped with a pool table, TV and DVD player.
