Ethnic-style cottages in a rural setting
Straddling by the Cauvery and Veeracholan rivers. Mantra Koodam is set amongst 15 acres of mature gardens in the village of Veppathur near Kumbakonam. Part of the prestigious CGH Earth group of hotels, this tranquil retreat has drawn inspiration from a traditional ‘agraharam’ – a typical Tamil Brahmin street lined with ‘Williams’ (homes). It has been designed to provide a window into what was once a predominant way of life in this part of the world.
Accommodation is offered in ethnic-style ‘illams’ (cottages) that resemble traditional Chettiar homes with spacious verandas and ornate Burmese teak doors. Whilst the rooms are relatively simply furnished, they are character-rich and equipped with modern bathrooms. Mantra Koodam offers a relaxing atmosphere for guests to experience the tempo of rural India while engaging in activities, including visits to ancient Chola temples, nature walks, and the bronze casting studio.
Facilities include an outdoor pool and a restaurant that focuses on healthy cuisine; however, it must be noted that this hotel only serves vegetarian cuisine and does not serve any alcohol (and bringing your own alcohol is discouraged).
