Fort Cochin’s only Relais & Chateaux property

Originally the private residence of an 18th-century Dutch trader, this colonial villa changed hands several times before being restored and transformed into The Malabar House – Fort Cochin’s first boutique hotel and only Relais & Chateaux listed property.

Set in the heart of Fort Cochin with easy access to St Francis Church and the Chinese fishing nets, The Malabar House has 17 elegant, individually decorated rooms and suites comfortably furnished with period-style furniture and local works of art. The cosy Deluxe Rooms are on the ground floor, while the Roof Garden Suites with private terraces are on the first floor. The Malabar House Suite, which features a living room on the ground floor, a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, and a large private terrace, is the best room at the hotel.

The restaurant at The Malabar House uses the freshest ingredients. It serves modern fusion cuisine combining traditional South Indian flavours with those of the West. In contrast, at the wine lounge situated above, emerging Indian wines are available, as well as tapas dishes. Other facilities at The Malabar House include a small outdoor pool and a spa offering traditional Ayurvedic treatments.
