Homestay on an organic farm

Konyak Tea Retreat is a simple, delightful homestay that enjoys a tranquil setting on the edge of a hill and is set amongst a lush 250-acre organic working farm that cultivates tea and oranges. Built using locally sourced materials, this stone cottage, with its simple antique furniture made from cane and wood and tribal paintings on the walls, exudes a rustic, ethnic charm that complements its warm, homespun atmosphere. Accommodation is in two cosy bedrooms (one double bed, one twin bed) with ensuite bathrooms, and like in most Naga homes, the living room and dining room are attached to an open kitchen.

At Konyak Tea Retreat, the cuisine leans towards authentic Konyak delicacies, and the home-cooked meals are prepared using freshly sourced ingredients and recipes handed down through generations. A typical lunch/dinner menu usually features steamed rice, smoked meat, vegetables and bread (Indian style roti), while breakfast includes cereals, boiled eggs and fruits.

This property has an ideal location for discovering Longwa village, where you can meet Konyak Nagas, who were once ferocious headhunters. Other activities on offer at Konyak Tea Retreat include a farm experience where you will gain an insight into organic farming methods practised in Nagaland, pick tea leaves (March / April) and oranges (mid-November and December) alongside estate workers and soft treks through surrounding forests to nearby waterfalls
