Jalakara

Jalakara is the Andaman Islands’ only boutique hotel. Set on a hillside amongst the virgin rainforest in the interior of Havelock Island, Jalakara blends in with the natural surroundings and offers accommodation in seven spacious, air-conditioned rooms and villas scattered around the property. Each room is individually designed in a contemporary, minimalist style, features cement-washed floors and is comfortably furnished with a four-poster bed, plush sofa and a writing desk. While most rooms and suites have a private terrace or balcony, the Jalakara Villa has a garden and plunge pool. None of the rooms has a television or telephone, and although Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, the network coverage is intermittent.

At Jalakara, tasty meals are served in discreet private areas, and the food served here is a wonderful choice of traditional South Indian curries and fusion cuisine with a particular emphasis on fresh seafood. Leisure facilities include an infinity pool, a bar and a spa, whilst Jalakara’s activities include night kayaking around picturesque Havelock Island, guided walks through lush virgin rainforests and yoga lessons.
