Gangtey Lodge

Gangtey Lodge (formerly called Gangtey Goenpa Lodge) is our favourite luxury property in Bhutan and occupies a spectacular location overlooking the breathtaking Gangtey Valley.

Designed in the style of the rural farmhouses that punctuate this remote rural valley, this spectacular 12-room boutique lodge has raised the bar for luxury in Bhutan. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff who provide very attentive service. Whenever possible, guests are greeted personally by the lodge manager on arrival, and check-in is accompanied by a shoulder and neck massage!

Delicious meals are prepared by the highly skilled chef using locally sourced ingredients, and a warming drink and blanket quickly materialise when sitting by the fireside on the open terrace, enjoying the uninterrupted views. At the centre of the lodge is an informal lounge and dining space with wall-to-ceiling views of the valley below, plush leather sofas, and two fireplaces made from local stone that create the feeling of a home away from home.

The twelve suites are supremely comfortable and have underfloor heating, wood-burning stoves, and a freestanding bath overlooking the magnificent natural landscape. The small spa is another highlight of the property.

Traditional Bhutanese archery and darts are also available. With good reason, guests are often very reluctant to leave Gantey Lodge and its magnificent surroundings.
