Diphlu River Lodge

Diphlu River Lodge is Kaziranga’s leading wildlife lodge, conveniently located about 20 minutes from the National Park’s central range entrance. Set amongst lush green paddy fields and separated from the picturesque wildlife reserve by the meandering Diphlu River, this delightful eco-sensitive lodge is built on stilts to protect the buildings from floods during the monsoon.

Accommodation comprises eight independent cottages and four semi-detached cottages designed to blend with the stunning natural setting. The spacious, tastefully decorated cottages have been created in an indigenous style using local materials. The independent cottages feature a thatched veranda with a day bed to take in the glorious views of the surrounding forests, while the smaller semi-detached cottages all have balconies. The Machan observation deck is raised above the river at the heart of Diphlu River Lodge, which is linked to the cottages by bamboo walkways that also house an air-conditioned lounge, restaurant and small library.

The restaurant serves enticing traditional Assamese, Indian and a small selection of Continental cuisine. Diphlu River Lodge also has a well-stocked bar where you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks and superb views of the Diphlu River. Weather permitting, campfires, as well as riverside BBQs, are arranged. Activities on offer include wildlife safaris, nature walks and visits to surrounding tribal villages. It must be noted that the power supply at Diphlu River Lodge can be erratic, and whilst generators provide backup power, guests are advised to keep a torch (supplied by the lodge) handy.
