COMO Uma Punakha

COMO Uma Punakha has one of the most picturesque locations in Bhutan and is a luxury lodge sitting high above a snake-like bend in the Mo Chhu River at the western end of the lush Punakha Valley.

Externally, this stunning eleven-room boutique property resembles a stylish Bhutanese Dzong with whitewashed walls, exposed stone walls, and paved courtyards. The minimalist contemporary Bhutanese interiors make extensive use of wood and feature large windows that bring mesmerising views into the property. COMO Uma Punakha’s nine compact Valley View Rooms (some with terraces) are decorated with local artwork and have floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the valley and river below.

Sheesham wood furniture, hand-made Italian linens, and a bathroom with a deep bathtub and a separate shower give the accommodation a tangible feeling of luxury. Two standalone villas are set in a secluded location within the grounds and offer one or two bedrooms and the services of a Butler.

The Bukhari restaurant at COMO Uma Punakha has both inside and outside seating and serves up mouth-watering gastronomic treats with its seasonal menus produced from locally sourced ingredients.

Complementing the luxurious hospitality offering at Uma Punakha is the small Shambala Retreat, which is set below the hotel and has two treatment rooms offering Asian-inspired treatments, including a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath.
