COMO Uma Paro

Resembling a traditional Bhutanese dzong (temple-fortress), the COMO Uma Paro is an intimate and luxurious Himalayan retreat set on a forested mountainside overlooking Paro Valley.

Considered to be one of the best hotels to stay in Bhutan, Uma Paro is a special place with an interior décor that combines colourful accents of traditional Bhutanese craftsmanship with clean-lined contemporary design. Accommodation is in twenty rooms and nine private villas that are scattered throughout the grounds.

For a luxury hotel, it must be observed that the rooms at Uma Paro rooms are compact.

Forest View Rooms (25 sqm) have fine goose down duvets, Egyptian cotton linen, a bathroom with combined shower-bathtub and views overlooking the surrounding pine forest, while the larger Valley View Rooms (32 sqm) also feature a Juliet balcony that opens up to panoramic views of the Paro Valley, and a bathroom with separate bathtub and shower.

Como suites and the freestanding One Bedroom Villas are much more spacious (respectively 95 and 92 sqm), with the latter room category standing out on account of its spacious living room equipped with wood burning stove, private room for massages, and an outdoor sitting area.

Guests staying at Uma Paro can look forward to sampling award-winning cuisine at the hotel’s Bukhari restaurant before enjoying a relaxing post-dinner drink at the stylish Uma Bar. Wi-Fi is available, and there is also a library and a firepit which is a popular place to congregate after dark.

A cornerstone of Uma Paro is the COMO Shambala Spa which invites guests to discover the calming spirit of Bhutan and has two private Bhutanese hot stone bathhouses, a large indoor heated pool with alfresco sundeck, steam rooms for men and women, and a gym and yoga studio with views overlooking Paro Valley.
