Coconut Lagoon is a charming, rustic, backwater retreat that enjoys a superb location on the banks of Lake Vembanad and reflects the gentle, unhurried life of a typical Keralan village. Set amongst lush green tropical gardens filled with swaying palms and flowering plants, Coconut Lagoon can only be reached by boat.

Inspired by traditional architecture, the accommodation comprises heritage-style bungalows and private pool villas created using carved antique doors and polished wooden pillars. Rooms are decorated with natural fabrics and tastefully furnished with restored antique cupboards, wooden dressing tables, bedside tables and chests of drawers, all salvaged from traditional Keralan homes. The Heritage Bungalows are independent cottages set along narrow canals overlooking the lush gardens, while the duplex Heritage Mansions feature a living room on the ground floor and a bedroom on the upper level and offer fine views of Lake Vembanad. The Private Pool Villas are set on the lake’s edge and have a plunge pool in their private gardens.

Dining options include a lakeside speciality seafood restaurant, while the hotel’s bar serves beer and Indian wines. Leisure facilities at the Coconut Lagoon include an outdoor swimming pool, an Ayurvedic centre offering traditional holistic massages and a well-equipped gym. The hotel also provides a range of experiences, including cooking demonstrations, a short sunset cruise and nature walks. Coconut Lagoon is renowned for its eco-friendly, sustainable tourism practices. One of the unique activities the hotel supports is the preservation of the endangered Veechur cattle. Please do not be surprised if you see the resident Veechur bull or cow outside your cottage, as they have the freedom to roam around the property. A butterfly garden is another notable feature of Coconut Lagoon.
