Bhanwar Vilas Palace is a charming, affordable heritage mansion that feels more like a comfortable home than a luxury hotel. Built in the 1930s, Bhanwar Vilas was originally the royal residence of the Maharaja of Karauli and, at that time, was regarded as a modern alternative to the medieval period’ City Palace’ that dominates the Karauli landscape.

Converted into a hotel in the late 1990s, Bhanwar Vilas Palace still retains its original features and will appeal to guests who are interested in exploring offbeat Rajasthan and enjoy staying in smaller, intimate heritage hotels where the descendants of the royal family still reside and play an active role to ensure guests can enjoy a more personable experience.

Bhanwar Vilas Palace retains its colonial elegance and offers accommodation in 45 simple, spacious, individually decorated rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and feature an ensuite bathroom. The interiors are decorated with Art Deco period furniture, and the rooms overlook the courtyard or the mature gardens. At Bhanwar Palace, delicious home-cooked meals are served in the main dining room, and when weather permits, guests also have the option to dine in the gardens.
