Immersive travel at a community-based guesthouse

Beit Al Baraka is a community-based guesthouse in the sleepy village of Umm Qais (ancient Gadara), offering travelers to Jordan a uniquely immersive travel experience that will connect them with the country’s culture.

From cookery workshops to basket weaving, historical walks, cycling, hiking, and beekeeping – meeting the local people is at the heart of the Beit Al Baraka experience – their stories and insights make this beautiful and little-visited part of northern Jordan come alive.

Here, you’ll wake to cockerel crowing, and the call to prayer floats over the village. Sit down at a table laden with local delicacies for a family-style breakfast before setting off on your chosen activities and learning about the way of life and traditions of Umm Qais.

At the end of the day, relax in the garden (or on the roof where its magnificent views look towards three countries) before enjoying a mouth-watering home-cooked dinner.

Beit Al Baraka is in a residential neighborhood with three twin-bedded guestrooms decorated with local rugs and old black and white photographs. The two shared bathrooms are along the corridor.

An inviting shared sitting room features locally made furniture and is decorated with colorful Jordanian rugs. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available.
