Antique Inn

The Antique Inn, Nizwa is an atmospheric 300-year-old heritage property located in the heart of Nizwa within easy walking distance from the city’s castle and souq. Formed from several tastefully restored traditional Omani mudbrick houses, the Antique Inn is decorated in a traditional Omani style and offers great character combined with a rustic standard of accommodation.

Heavy studded wooden doors, ochre-coloured stucco walls, ceilings with painted exposed beams, and alcoves filled with antiques can be found throughout the property. Narrow passageways and steep staircases connect the various parts of the building. A large carpeted majlis (meeting room) decorated with ornaments and lined with cushions is where guests can mingle over complimentary coffee and dates, while on the roof, there is an attractive terrace with fine views overlooking Nizwa castle and more seating.

In the evenings, the roof terrace is used for buffet dinners (there is no restaurant). Every one of the simply appointed guestrooms at the Antique Inn is unique in its style, size and décor. Some rooms have ensuite bathrooms, while others have a private assigned external bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and have Wi-Fi. Guests must be aware that most rooms are compact, come with limited natural light, and do not have a table or chair. Beds are sprung mattresses placed on the floor.

For the most authentic experience while at the Antique Inn in Nizwa we recommend staying in a room within the main building rather than one of the newly built ‘barasti-style’ dwellings with their straw-covered walls and wickerwork terraces that are located by the swimming pool.
