Luxurious hideaway with a Zen-like ambience
This luxurious hideaway is hidden amongst the tranquil pine forests of Balakha Village, Amankora Lodge, Paro exudes a Zen-like ambience and is perfectly located to discover the pristine natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Paro Valley.
If you want to stay at ‘the best’ hotel in the region, Amankora is arguably it and charges accordingly. The architecture of this lovely 24-suite property has been described as ‘designer dzong’, taking its inspiration from Bhutan’s stunning fortress-like monasteries which combine whitewashed earth-packed walls with dry-stone walls and wide uncluttered courtyards.
This is an ideal place to relax and get away from it all. Service is exceptional, with almost nothing being too much trouble. From the Amankora Paro, you can enjoy wonderful mountain views, breathe in the fresh-scented Himalayan air, and enjoy the sound of crystal clear streams gurgling through the gardens.
Guest accommodation is set amongst the pine trees and split between several blocks. Each of the spacious open-plan timber-clad suites has a king-sized bed, banquette window seat, traditional Bukhari wood-burning stove, separate shower and toilet, double vanities, Wi-Fi, and a free-standing bathtub (but no televisions).
An array of Bhutanese, Western and Indian dishes are served in the restaurant, where seating is either indoors in the dining room or outside on a spacious terrace overlooking the fire pit. Upstairs is a spacious library lounge where you can enjoy the views and have a drink at the bar which offers both house (included) and premium beverages (chargeable).
The spa at Amankora Paro is a cornerstone of the property and has a sauna, steam room, massage rooms, and signature Bhutanese hot stone baths.
