Incredible, innovative, design-focused hotels are now starting to open their doors in Saudi Arabia. Within the oasis of AlUla you will find luxurious tented villas – some of which have their own pools – blending into a magical desertscape, as well as a jaw-dropping heritage property formed from the ruins of an 800-year-old village. While by the hypnotic blue waters of the Red Sea, a number of luxury and ultra-luxury properties set on pristine private islands bring a brand new offering to the Saudi hotel scene – beach villas and overwater villas. Elsewhere, luxury hotels can be found in Riyadh and Jeddah. In smaller regional centres, the options are more limited and usually of a three or four-star standard. Female guests should be aware that hotel policies in Saudi Arabia (outside AlUla and the Red Sea) often restrict the use of leisure facilities (gym, pool, etc) to male guests.
