Egypt Journey Planner

Five days in Egypt
Make the most of a short stay in Egypt by focusing on one city. Four or five days in Cairo is plenty of time to marvel at the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, explore the Egyptian Museum’s treasures, the bustling Khan El Khalili bazaar, and visit Coptic Cairo’s historic churches. For something different, Alexandria, on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, is perfect for a long weekend.

One week to ten days in Egypt
Extend your journey to Luxor and Aswan. Discover the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple, and Colossi of Memnon. Sail the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, stopping at Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples. See the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk, and Philae Temple and visit Abu Simbel.

Two weeks in Egypt
Enjoy an extended, more leisurely Nile Cruise or add on a cruise on Lake Nasser. Or, embrace the above before exploring the Red Sea’s underwater wonders or Sinai’s St. Catherine’s Monastery. Head off the beaten track and discover Tell El Amarna and Middle Egypt or add on a few days in Alexandria, one of the ancient world’s greatest cities.

Three weeks or more in Egypt
A three-week holiday in Egypt could include everything above enjoyed at an unhurried pace. Further immersive experiences could include traversing the Sahara by camel, discovering more of Egypt’s lesser-known sites, delving into Siwa Oasis’s unique culture, and learning about local life in rural villages.
