Enchanting heritage hotel offering a glimpse into a bygone era
Originally built in the late 19th century to accommodate the personal guests of the Maharaja of Gondal, The Orchard Palace is a modest yet enchanting converted heritage hotel that enjoys a tranquil setting amongst mature gardens filled with flowering plants and offers guests a glimpse into the lifestyle of the former royal family.
All seven rooms and suites at The Orchard Palace are spacious and feature high ceilings and appointed colonial period art deco furniture, antiques and handicrafts from the royal family’s heirloom collection. One of the highlights of staying at The Orchard Palace is the chance to upgrade to the royal railway saloon converted into a suite, complete with a bedroom, drawing room, and dining room, all beautifully finished with inlaid wood and an ensuite washroom.
At the Orchard Palace, meals are served in the main restaurant, which offers both Indian and Continental cuisines. While this is a converted royal residence, guests must be aware that this hotel should be considered modest, and whilst it lacks facilities, its old-world charm and atmosphere make up for this.
